About The Course

ACME Technical Services is an authorized school for the Fiber Optic Association, offering industry-recognized fiber optic training for technicians, installers, contractors, engineers, and network operators.

This 5-day CFOT course combines classroom instruction with hands-on lab training to help students build practical knowledge in fiber optic installation, splicing, termination, testing, and certification preparation.

There is no prerequisite required for this course, and all course materials are provided.


What The Course Covers

The CFOT training program includes:

  • Fiber optic applications and installations
  • Communications systems using fiber optics
  • Fiber optic components and network systems
  • Premises and outside plant cable installation
  • Splicing and termination
  • Fiber optic testing
  • Hands-on lab exercises for splicing, termination, and testing
  • Review and preparation for the CFOT certification exam

Certification

On the final day of the course, students will complete a review and prepare for the certification exam.

Upon successful completion of the exam, our instructor will submit your information to the Fiber Optic Association, and you will receive your CFOT — Certified Fiber Optic Technician certification.

Basic fiber optic course focused on designing fiber optic networks and managing their planning, design and installation.

Fiber Optics For OSP (CFOS/O

Course focused on OSP (outside plant) construction and installation - Prerequisite: CFOT

Splicing CFOS/S

How to splice fibers using fusion and mechanical splices - Prerequisite: CFOT

Connectors (CFOS/C)

Overview of termination techniques and extensive labs to develop skills appropriate for  factory manufacturing operations for pigtails and cables. - Prerequisite: CFOT

Testing (CFOS/T)

Comprehensive training on fiber optic testing techniques - Prerequisite: CFOT

Fiber Characterization (CFOS/FC)

Advanced fiber optic testing including dispersion testing for long haul fibers - Prerequisite: CFOT & CFOS/T

Applications for Planners, Designers, Techs, Installers, Contractors and Project Managers

These applications courses are open to anyone interested in learning how fiber is used in various applications. An introduction to fiber provides background for understanding the course. Those not interested in certification are welcome to take the course for a Certificate of Completion.

Fiber To The Home (CFOS/H)

Comprehensive training on fiber to the home applications including standards, network architecture, design, installation and test - Prerequisite: CFOT recommended

Optical LANs (CFOS/L)

Overview of fiber optic LAN designs using structured cabling and passive optical network architectures - Prerequisite: None

Data Centers (CFOS/DC)

Design and implementation of data centers from small to mega- focused in larger data centers and upgrades to higher speeds - Prerequisite: None

Fiber For Wireless (CFOS/W)

How fiber optics is used to implement cellular, small cell, DAS, WiFi and other wireless networks - Prerequisite: None
