Our Legacy
The ACME Computer Company was founded in 1996 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Beginning as a small computer sales and service company, ACME began to thrive in the vibrant years leading up to 2000. In 1999, ACME was approached by Manitoba Telecom Services to become involved in rolling out leading-edge ADSL internet services. With the burgeoning growth of internet services after 2000, ACME quickly grew into a highly-skilled technical services company.
In 2005, Robert Beaudoin, the founder of ACME, sold his ownership of the company to an employee, Winston Churchill. Building on a firm foundation of loyal clientele, Winston began to lead the company into an ever-changing technological landscape.
Since 2005, The ACME Computer Company has undergone several changes. We have become a province-wide leader in the installation of IPTV, Telecommunications and Network services. Looking into the future, the leadership team at ACME saw a need for Fiber Optic Technical Services. In 2009, we opened our Fiber Optics Department and were immediately met with a great demand. The year 2010 saw ACME ranked as 23rd on Manitoba’s Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies. With our central location based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, We are able to service a large geographic area. Our team has performed fiber splicing services as Far East as Barwick Ontario, and to the west, as far as Morse, Saskatchewan.
In response to our growing technical expertise, we determined that a name change would be beneficial for the branding of our company, so in 2011 we re-branded our company as ACME Technical Services. From the central office to the end user’s devices we can install, connect, and maintain even the most complex technical networks.
About the Name
Many people inquire about the name of our company. While it is true that we have fun with our name as it relates to the cartoon series, there is a much deeper meaning. The word “acme” has its root in the Greek language. The original definition from its inception is “striving to reach the highest pinnacle”. It is with this mindset that we begin each day of our journey in reaching the highest pinnacle in all that we do.
Team Structure
Our Field team consists of 17 full-time outside plant field technicians. Our team members experience levels range from 1 year to over 20 years. We have acquired a vast knowledge of Outside & Inside infrastructure and design. With a fleet of 17 vehicles, ACME Technical Services is the largest specialized Fiber splicing service in the province of Manitoba. We have worked diligently since 2009 to build a reputation of being on time and on budget with exceptional quality for each and every project we have been awarded.
Our internal leadership and support team consists of 10 full-time employees. These 10 employees hold the vital positions of Chief Executive Officer, Director of Operations, Company Controller, Director of HR, Director of Leadership Development, Asset and Safety Coordinator, Manager of Aerial & Cable Maintenance, Fiber Manager, and Assistant Fiber Manager.
